November 2012 Sloan-C Featured Participant - Cristi Ford


Our Sloan-C Featured Participant for November 2012 is Cristi Ford.


Cristi is an Assistant Professor in the Center for Academic Technology at the University of the District of Columbia and guides the centralized support of all faculty professional development in elearning for the university.

In her role, Cristi has been diligently working to offer faculty solid, consistent support for improved online course design. Through their Sloan-C College Pass faculty are able to secure seats in a variety of Sloan-C Workshops to grown in a wide range of online learning and administrative topics.

Cristi decided that she would take the journey that University of District of Columbia faculty would be taking and participated in several Sloan-C workshops this year including Getting Started: The First Step Towards Online Teaching; Advanced Moodle: Adding Collaboration and Interactivity to Online Courses; Online Growth in Challenging Environments; and Enhancing Your Course Accessibility the Easy Way.

This past summer, Cristi's connection with the Sloan-C community strengthened as she was selected to attend the 2012 Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Teaching and Learning (IELOL), a blended-learning leadership program sponsored by Penn State and Sloan-C.  Cristi has also recently become a steering committee member for the 6th Annual International Symposium for Emerging Technologies for Online Learning, taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada in April 2013.
