I just finished my Online Teaching Certificate Program through the Sloan C Consortium and I really feel as though I walked away from the experience with more knowledge and practical skills that will help me to help others succeed in an online environment. Working with my mentor and classmates in the Certificate program I became excited about all the possibilities of creating an effective online course!

The Online Teaching Certificate helped me to expand my base beyond the instructors who teach online at my home institution. The most valuable area for me was the interaction with other learners from institutions around the country. It was great to interact on common problems and see multiple solutions.;

The workshops offered in the Sloan -C Online Teaching Certificate enhanced my knowledge of online learning and pedagogy from a faculty perspective, which aided my role in course development and review. The freedom to select the topics to study allowed me to cater the certificate to fit my goals. As an added bonus, the certificate enhanced my credentials as an instructional developer and educator. Just a year later I was offered a new position with a significant raise, due in part, no doubt, to earning this certificate.

The Sloan certification program is a flexible online program that provides participants the opportunity to learn current information, tips and techniques about teaching online, and the chance to interact with educators from all over the globe to share ideas. Workshop facilitators are knowledgeable and helpful, and topics include the latest in areas of interest to those who teach or administer online programs. I met people in the Sloan workshops who I have continued to dialog with since I completed the program, and I feel like I am a more qualified educator as a result of earning my Sloan certification. <

The Online Teaching Certificate Program was extremely valuable. Even though I had been teaching online for several years, I consistently learned new knowledge and skills that I could put to use immediately in my online course design and delivery. The workshop moderators and mentors were highly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and encouraging. I enjoyed and learned from interacting online with both my instructors and my peers. I highly recommend this program to anyone interested in online learning and instruction.

Being able to participate in several of the workshops, either mandatory or elective, for the OTC has proven to be both an added value and a challenge. Being involved in Blended Learning for several years the OTC provided the perfect opportunity to get in touch with experts, peers and newcomers in the field. Being exposed to a larger pool of ideas was an excellent way to discuss and compare my methodologies with others and both to confirm and/or confront different approaches. Overall it was a very rewarding experience and I can only emphasize that it is just ..."the end of the beginning".

I'm currently a course developer in the Management Domain at the Laureate Higher Education group. In that capacity I develop online undergraduate and graduate level courses for several universities. I've been designing and delivering academic and training courses face-to-face for many years. Over the last 10 years, my focus has been on developing and delivering online synchronous and asynchronous graduate-level courses.
Joining all of you online for this course is really exciting for me since learning about how I can be sensitive to the needs of all learners as I develop course is one of the main reasons I joined the (teaching certificate) program. At work, I'm currently participating on a team to develop several flash applications. I want to investigate options for creating rich multimedia learning environments that remain accessible to students with disabilities.
