In an effort to be a bit more "green" and in response to overwhelming participant feedback, this year we are trying something new - a downloadable (.pdf-format) program book.

We encourage you to start planning which sessions you'd like to attend!

Please note that we will not be handing out printed program books at the conference site, but you will be able access the program book online with your laptop (or other wifi enabled device that can read pdf), in our email lab, or on computer kiosks set up in the conference area. (We will be handing out smaller printed Schedules at a Glance when you check in at the registration desk.)

Please not that all Program Information on the website is current and can also be used to help you plan your program.

Welcome to the 17th Annual Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning website! I am really excited about the conference we have planned for you! I have had the opportunity to preview many of the hundreds of submissions of presentation and workshop proposals – and they are the best I have seen for any conference in our field in the past decade and a half. The full schedule will be available online in early August.

And our keynoters are absolutely terrific!

Lee Rainie, Director of the Pew Internet and American Life Project will speak on the New Media Ecology and How it MAY Impact the Field of Education. The Internet and American Life Project at PEW has its thumb on the pulse of the nation. I have to say that the “textbook” for the class I teach online each semester is comprised of the outstanding, timely research studies produced by the Pew project. There is no one who better knows where we are online as a society and where we are headed than Lee Rainie!

Cable Green – known to many of us as the leader in open innovation from his post with Washington Higher Ed, has taken on the new leadership position of Director of Global Education at Creative Commons. He will bring exciting new ideas to us in his keynote on the changing landscape in open educational resources. This year, we have added a new track on Open Educational Resources. This is a growing movement in our field; one that we felt we needed to examine, help shape, and advance through our annual conference.

Howard Rheingold – an icon of innovation and creativity in our field. Just mention his name, and everyone knows something new, exciting, and revolutionary is coming next. Read Peter’s letter for details, but expect something empowering, thought-provoking and vision-altering in this keynote!

I know that you will agree that the program is going to be timely, relevant and rewarding for all who attend. And, this year, our venue is in the heart of Disney World, so you will be able to simply walk out the door of the Swan and Dolphin Resort and stroll to the many attractions located nearby. You won’t want to miss the Sloan-C Dessert Event at EPCOT on Thursday, Nov. 10th. This includes access to EPCOT Food and Wine Festival plus Sloan-C's dessert party and viewing of the Illuminations laser show/fireworks.

Tap the expertise and ideas of all who will attend in person or online this November. There is no doubt that this will be the best ever Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning.

I can’t wait for November; it will be grand to see you there!
