Abstract

This presentation reports on the design of comprehensive program evaluations for Michigan Virtual University's MyBlend learning solution, a statewide blended learning implementation effort in Michigan.

Extended Abstract

This presentation reports on the design of comprehensive program evaluations for Michigan Virtual University's MyBlend learning solution, a statewide blended learning implementation effort in Michigan. Conducted by the MVU Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute, the evaluation includes an overview of the MyBlend program, an overview of the significant findings of the current evaluation strategies, as well as a look to the future evaluation strategies. The current evaluation design includes teacher, administrator, and other personnel surveys; and implementation interviews. Data was used to determine the impact of the solution as well as guide the refinement of the solution to better meet the needs of participating educators.

Lead Presenter

Kathryn Kennedy is a Senior Researcher at the MVU's Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute. Her team conducts and coordinates research projects in K-12 online and blended learning and hosts webinars, a blog, and a podcast series, three venues that help to disseminate the field’s research. Her practical and research experiences include educator professional development for technology integration and instructional design in traditional, blended, and online learning environments. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida (2010) in curriculum and instruction, with a concentration in educational technology. She is co-chair of the SITE Virtual Schooling SIG and co-editor of the Journal of Online Learning Research (AACE).
