Abstract

What are some of the factors you must consider when designing a faculty development program to support blended learning?

Extended Abstract

The are many factors that influence a faculty members participation in a faculty development program. In this case study we will review the engagement patterns of participants in FAB Tech, a blended faculty development program dedicated to designing and developing flipped and blended learning courses. The FAB Tech workshop focused on flipped and blended learning technologies as a method to increase the use of active learning. A pre/posttest was administered to the participants on their use of technology and their course delivery strategies. In addition, interviews were conducted with a purposeful sample of the participants based on level of engagement in the workshop and their change in the pre/posttest. We will also explore the factors that influenced faculty participation in FAB Tech and discuss the implications for sustaining active participation in future faculty development programs.
