Extended Abstract

The "new economy" compels a significant number of adults to go back to colleges and universities to further their education. As a result, adult students are viewed as a serious and sought-after group, increasingly integrating throughout post-secondary institutions. With this in mind, Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) is moving into the online degree arena to provide a comprehensive quality education to the non-traditional population; many who are attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This workshop will explore the strategies used by JCSU to expand their educational offerings, and assist participants in a blueprinting exercise for the development and implementation of online degree programs for adult learners. Moreover, the presenters will discuss regional accreditation standards for consideration.
