As this year’s Program Chair, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to the 2014 Sloan-C Blended Conference & Workshop! Our conference theme, Blended Learning: Pathways to Student Success, reaffirms the fundamental nature and purpose of the event, which is to promote excellence and innovation in blended teaching, learning and research in service of our students, the primary benefactors of the educational opportunities that we provide.
The size and scope of the 2014 Blended Conference & Workshop is intentionally designed to provide participants with an intimate learning environment combined with considerable professional networking opportunities with blended learning practitioners from the U.S. and abroad. Although modest in size, our conference program covers the full breadth and depth of current blended teaching and learning topics: from Mark D. Milliron’s keynote presentation on data mining and predictive analytics to inform action strategies for student learning success--to a plenary session, featured sessions and invited workshops delivered by blended learning experts in their respective fields--to a wide variety of 50-minute information sessions and poster sessions.
Our four conference tracks this year are teaching and learning effectiveness; blended models and design; faculty development and student support, and institutional leadership and strategy. Within each of the four tracks, the sessions will focus on three critically important thematic areas of research, innovation, and best practices. Additionally, this year’s program includes the popular "unconference” session, which consists of several loosely structured sessions intended to facilitate group discussion about mutually important issues. We encourage you to participate in the “unconference” to engage in the free and informal exchange of ideas with colleagues.
Each year, we strive to offer you a conference program of the highest quality. In that spirit, please feel free to contact me with any ideas or suggestions for improvement at firstname.lastname@example.org. I am looking forward to seeing you in Denver!
