Abstract

A highly interactive workshop exploring twelve strategies every online administrator should consider utilizing at their institution.

Extended Abstract

While there has been significant and steady growth in the number of online and blended courses and degree programs being offered across all institutional types, it appears the availability of practical and strategic knowledge of success for administrators in this realm has been sparse. As colleges and universities continue to explore and expand online and blended programming, it is important that elearning administrators and support personnel have a real sense of ways to ensure both the growth and quality of online and blended courses and programs.

During this interactive session, participants will learn about twelve strategies they can utilize at their institutions to promote growth and quality in online and blended programming. Strategies would include creating faculty buy-in for online/blended offerings, centralizing the administration of online/blended education, creating an online/blended advisory board or council, creating a policy and procedures manual for online/blended education and providing high quality professional development opportunities for faculty teaching online/blended courses.
At first glance it may appear that this session would only be appropriate for administrators, however, it is our belief that faculty who teach online/blended courses, and program directors of online/blended programs would be interested and would benefit as well.

Following this workshop participants will be able to:
1. Identify twelve success strategies every elearning administrator should know.
2. Determine which of these success strategies are currently occurring at their institution.
3. Develop an action plan to implement the success strategies that are not occurring at their institution.
