This call for papers is for a special issue of the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks that will be devoted to research and effective practices in faculty development. The Faculty Advisory Board is especially interested in theory- or evidence-based best practices in faculty development as well as solid, well-designed and -executed research on the topic of faculty development. Faculty development can include online or blended education held for community college or higher education faculty. For example, appropriate topics may include faculty differences, techniques for dealing with resistance, disciplinary perspectives, organizational issues, pedagogical approaches, and long-term impacts of faculty development, among other topics. All manuscripts must follow JALN Style Guidelines (http://sloanconsortium.org/jaln_guidelines) and provide sufficient detail and analysis to qualify the manuscript for publication.
All manuscripts intended for consideration in the special issue must be submitted through the JALN site (http://jaln.sloanconsortium.org/) no later than February 1, 2012.
